I don't know where you're at with the Packers right now, but I've just about run out of steam with this year's team.
To be clear, I'm still interested in the team overall. I'm still interested in seeing the roster moves they make. And, most importantly, I'm still very interested in seeing what happens in the immediate aftermath of the season. (How long will Joe Barry survive? Will he make it out of Black Monday? Is there a scenario where he's back for 2023? I don't know if any of us would make it to 2023 if he did.)
But as far as the individual games and players? Mostly, I'd say I'm done, and that's because the optimal path forward for the Packers involves losing a bunch of games.
I can't root for that, and rooting for the success of individual players gets tricky at that point, too, because if they do well, it makes the Packers more likely to win games, which runs contrary to their optimal path forward and...well, you see how it spirals.
It almost feels to me like we're in an extended preseason. The games and their outcomes don't matter, or they don't matter in the same way they do if the Packers were contenders making a run for the playoffs.
So we wait. We hope the Packers make it through these final few games without any major injuries, and we hope the chips fall in an advantageous manner beyond that. The end is nearly here. Or rather, we know where the end is, and we're nearly there.
