I put in quite a bit of time on this little project during football season. I say that not to pat myself on the back, but just as a statement of fact. Writing stuff and making podcasts takes time! I'm glad to share it with everybody, but it does take time and energy.
So you'd think the Packers' bye week would be relaxing. Shoot, I always think it's going to be a chill time to unplug and not think about football or deadlines (even self-imposed ones) for a while.
But alas! I find myself more anxious than ever during bye weeks. I feel listless and out of sorts without the structure of a Packers game day.
When the Packers are playing, I know when the inactive list is coming out. I know when kickoff is happening. I know what I need to prep and write and record. I know when it's all happening. On a bye week that's all gone.
I know that I have no effect on how the Packers play or what they do, but having them around gives me something to fixate on for a little bit. On a non-Packers Sunday, we get a lot of the same football energy, but I have nothing to focus it on.
How about you? How do you handle non-Packers Sundays during football season?
