Playoff weekend is here. The Packers are not. Sadness abounds.
Why? Well, looking at the NFC playoff field, I can see a little bit of what the Packers were thinking this year. The field is...not great?
Philadelphia is off this week as the one seed, but the Packers at least hung tough with them for a while. With a defense playing better, could they pull an upset in a rematch?
San Francisco probably scares me the most, but it feels like Brock Purdy could turn into a pumpkin at any time. If the Packers managed to score 20 points (a big ask for the Packers in 2022, to be fair!), that might have been enough.
Beyond that, it seems pretty wide open. Shoot, the Packers have straight up beaten the Vikings, Cowboys, and Buccaneers this year. They should have beaten the Giants. If the Packers had just taken care of business this year (for instance, winning just one (1) (literally just a single game) against the Lions), a run would have been possible.
Instead, they're at home, resting in the very uncomfortable bed they've made for themselves.
In football, as it turns out, you very frequently do get what you deserve.
